Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can a magnet be used to search for jewelry?
Unfortunately, no. Jewelry is typically made of precious metals such as silver or gold, which are not magnetic. A magnet only attracts metals that contain iron.
2. How deep and how small items can be detected with the equipment ?
Metal detectors used for land searches typically detect objects up to 30 cm deep. The detection depth depends on the coil size and the device's sensitivity settings. Depending on the model, detectors can identify even tiny items like gold flakes.
In underwater searches, the depth is primarily limited by diving classification and the equipment's depth rating. We currently offer underwater search services in the Tampere region for dives up to 40 meters.
3. Will the search leave holes or marks on the lawn ?
Usually, no visible damage is left on the lawn — and in many cases, digging isn't even necessary if the item is on the surface. If digging is required, we carefully cut a small plug of grass and fold it aside. After the area is checked, the plug is placed back in its original position. This method helps preserve the lawn with minimal or no visible trace.
4. Can I help with the search ?
Absolutely! It's best if you can be present to show the area where the item was lost. That way, the search can begin in the right spot and valuable time won't be wasted.
We also have multiple metal detectors available, so with a quick briefing, you can join the search and help make it more efficient.
